How a set gets made.

Someone's kid asks

Nearly every set starts as a complaint. A child wants a crane that turns, a parent wants twenty quiet minutes, and neither exists on the shelf.

Paper, then plywood

Two weeks of sketching, then a rough prototype cut in the workshop. If it does not survive a week on the test panel it goes in the bin.

Twelve tests

Drop, pull, bite, wash, and eight more. EN 71 and ASTM F963 are the floor, not the target — we test past both.

500 numbered boxes

A run is 500 sets, stamped and packed in recycled board. When the last one leaves the workshop the set retires.

Before you buy

Eight straight answers.

Both, and we mark which is which. Anything rated 1–3 is tested for small parts and choking. Above that the number is about patience and finger strength, not danger — plenty of six-year-olds finish the 9+ sets with an adult nearby.

Tell us the set and the part number printed in the booklet and we post a replacement free, anywhere we ship. No receipt, no time limit. We hold spares for every run we have ever made.

Sometimes. About a third of retired sets get a second run, usually a year later and usually because enough people asked. Add your email on the product page and you will hear the day it is scheduled.

Orders placed before 2pm leave the workshop the same day, everything else the next working day. UK next-day is £4.95 and free over £45. Europe is 2–4 days, the rest of the world 5–9.

Within 60 days, opened or not, built or not. Post it back in whatever box you have and we refund the whole thing including the original postage.

FSC birch ply, beech dowel and water-based paint. The board games use recycled greyboard. There is no plastic in any set except the wheels on the vehicle range, which are recycled ABS.

Yes, and it is free. Tick the box at checkout and the set arrives in banana tissue with a plain kraft sleeve and a handwritten card if you leave us a message.

We do, at 25% off from ten sets and with an invoice rather than a card payment. Write to hello@example.com with a rough list and we will put an order together.

Still deciding

Tell us the kid,we'll pick the set.

Age, attention span, whether they like following instructions. One email back with two suggestions and no sales pitch.
